The Overview: What is LifePoints?

Before I get into my review, it’s important to understand what sites like LifePoints are for.

Third-party market research platforms have been around since the early days of the internet. They partner with major brands and retailers to bring them important consumer data, so that the brands we all love can continue to grow and improve.

To provide that data, sites like LifePoints will pay users in cash or other rewards for completing simple tasks — mainly filling out surveys.

So, where does LifePoints fit into this picture?

LifePoints is one of the most popular survey sites available today. It’s the product of a merger between MySurvey and LightSpeed, two highly reputable market research companies. In 2023, the site is available to consumers all over the world, and operates in 26 different languages.

That makes it one of the largest survey sites you can sign up for, with a wide variety of surveys and money-making opportunities available to every user. Once you sign up and start participating, you’ll earn points that you can exchange for a variety of prizes.

Like any survey site, LifePoints won’t pay the bills. But it will help you earn some much-needed spending money in your spare time.

Is LifePoints a scam?

There are a lot of survey sites out there. Some of them are legitimate and well-established, and others… not so much.

So, if you’re a little skeptical about LifePoints, that’s understandable. I was, too, so I looked into some of the most trustworthy reviews and learned that LifePoints is definitely not a scam.

This is a safe, free site to use. They won’t charge you any hidden fees or use your data without your permission. Their partnered retailers are all reputable companies that use the site to collect important consumer information. You will actually make money using this site, as advertised.

I can’t guarantee that you’re going to earn a fortune with LifePoints, but I can tell you it is 100% legit.

Who should sign up for LifePoints?

Like I said before, LifePoints is one of the biggest, most popular survey sites out there. It’s used and enjoyed by people all over the globe.

To put it really simply, LifePoints is for everyone!

However, not everyone will have the same experience with LifePoints. It’s ideal for someone who is looking to fill gaps of time in their day and wants to make a little spending money while they’re at it.

The amount of surveys actually available to you will vary depending on your personal information (age, location, etc.), so some users will have a higher earning potential on this site than others — of course, there’s no way to know for sure until you sign up!

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend LifePoints to someone is if they’re looking for a profitable side-hustle or online job. For that, you should find something you can dedicate more time to. You should only sign up for LifePoints if you’re interested in small rewards for easy tasks throughout your week!

The details: How does LifePoints work?

Now that you have a basic idea of what LifePoints is and why you might be interested, let’s get down to the details. How does LifePoints work, exactly?

Compared to a lot of the other flashy, cheap survey sites out there, it’s actually pretty straightforward. You complete surveys and other tasks for points, which you can then use to buy your rewards.

Here’s a more detailed, step-by-step guide of what it looks like to earn money with LifePoints.

1. Getting started

First thing’s first: to sign up for LifePoints, you have to make your free account.

You have to be 14 or older to set up your account, but there are no geographical restrictions — people from all over the world can sign up.

It shouldn’t take you more than a couple minutes to get started. Just head to their website to enter your information and confirm your email. Then you’ll want to download the mobile LifePoints app, so you can complete surveys while you’re on the go.

At this stage, you’ll be asked to provide some personal information, including your age, gender, and location. These details help LifePoints determine which surveys you’re qualified to take (that’s how they get the most accurate feedback that companies are looking for).

You’ll earn your first 10 points just for completing signup and entering that information.

Once your profile is all set up and you’ve downloaded the app, you’re ready to start completing tasks and earning points!

2. Taking surveys

Filling out surveys is the most common way users earn points on this site. You can browse through available surveys to find one you’re eligible to take, then just select it to get started.

The questions are based on your opinions, experiences with certain products, shopping preferences, and more. You won’t have to worry about any tricky questions or about  answering something wrong — it’s all about giving your honest feedback to help brands improve.

Sometimes, you will be partway through a survey when you receive a notification that you aren’t actually eligible for it. This is pretty common in survey sites. When it happens, you won’t be able to continue the survey, but LifePoints will reward you points for the amount of work you’ve done so far.

Unfortunately, there is a limited number of surveys you’ll be able to take at a given time. Otherwise, we would all sign up and be taking surveys all day long!

To make sure you never miss a survey you’re eligible for, it’s helpful to download the app and sign up for email alerts, so you’re always prepared to answer a few quick questions, wherever you are.

3. Tracking your experience in a diary

This is a unique feature offered by LifePoints, and a fun alternative to filling out surveys.

Some brands want detailed reviews of their customers’ experiences. So, LifePoints gives you the option to visit a particular store or restaurant and track your experience in a diary. You can fill in entries as you’re standing in line or waiting for a representative.

The points you earn for your diary entries won’t be enough to cover your expenses at that particular retailer — so this is something you should do only if you were planning on visiting that place, anyway.

You can think of it sort of like a fun cashback deal while you’re shopping or eating out!

4. Testing products

Want to try out new products for free?

Some brands will use LifePoints to send their customers new products in exchange for their feedback. Just test the sample they send you (it’s generally a cosmetic product, home cleaner, pet food, etc.) and provide a detailed review.

This is another feature that’s unique to LifePoints. You won’t earn a ton of points this way, but it’s a cool benefit for users who are interested in testing out the latest products their favorite brands have to offer.

Points & prizes: How you earn money with LifePoints

LifePoints is easy to use and offers a variety of ways to make money. But how exactly do you get that money?

Like a lot of popular survey sites, LifePoints rewards its users in the form of points. You’ll collect those points in your account, then you can use them to “shop” for prizes, including Visa and Amazon gift cards, PayPal cash, or gift cards to major retailers.

The exact value of each point is unclear. In my opinion, this is one of the more frustrating features of LifePoints — you won’t always know the dollar value of the points in your account.

For example, when you’re shopping in the LifePoints rewards catalog, you might find that a $5 Starbucks gift card costs more points than a $5 PayPal voucher, or vice versa. This all comes down to the agreements they have worked out with their various partner retailers.

As you use LifePoints and continue to redeem your points for prizes, you’ll get a feel for how much various cards and vouchers will cost you.

How much can you earn?

Since we’re talking about earning money, let’s talk about how much you can realistically make with LifePoints.

Again, there is no clear conversion system for points, so it’s hard to give an exact amount of money that you will earn each month or week. To keep it simple, I can tell you that the value of each point earned is around 1 penny or less.

So, you will need to earn at least 500 points to redeem your first $5 prize.

The amount of points you’ll earn for each task depends on the time it takes and the urgency of the task (if that company needs the information quickly, the task will be worth more points). In general, surveys will reward you between 20 and 100 points each.

Remember, filling out paid surveys is not a replacement for your real job. You might make around $25-$50 in a good month with LifePoints, but there’s no guarantee of a steady income.

To sum it up: you won’t earn a living with LifePoints, but you can get a decent stack of spending money in your PayPal account or at your favorite store.

More ways to earn: LifePoints Boosters

LifePoints also offers a variety of bonuses, which they call ‘Boosters,’ to keep their users engaged and earning.

Here are a few common Boosters that can help you maximize your points:

  • Location services: Completing a survey on the mobile app? Turn on location services within the app, and you’ll earn a bonus 20% on each survey you complete.
  • Profile updates: LifePoints wants you to keep your profile as up-to-date as possible, so they’re getting the most accurate information. Whenever you get a prompt to update your profile, you just need to quickly review your information and you’ll earn 10 points.
  • Daily challenges: Whenever you open the LifePoints app, you can complete a super quick daily challenge for bonus points. If you keep up with those daily challenges on a regular basis, your rewards will be greater.

Unfortunately, there is no referral program to collect bonus points by signing up your friends with LifePoints. Still, between these Boosters, surveys, and other tasks, you’ll always have plenty of opportunities to earn.

LifePoints pros and cons

Still not sure if LifePoints is right for you?

This site comes with tons of high reviews from its users. There is a lot to love about it — but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Like any survey site, LifePoints certainly has its flaws.

To help you decide if it’s worth your time in 2023, here are a few of the main pros and cons as reported by LifePoints’ users.

A few of the top highlights of using LifePoints include:

1. Available all over the world

Most survey sites are only available in America; sometimes in the U.K. or Canada. LifePoints is accessible to anyone, all over the globe.

That means that if you’re a digital nomad, you can access your LifePoints account wherever you happen to be. It’s also available in multiple languages, so you can recommend it to all your international pals.

2. Plenty of surveys available

Even though LifePoints has so many users, there are still plenty of surveys available every time you log on. You won’t have to waste your time searching through surveys or waiting for a notification in your inbox.

That doesn’t mean you’ll have an unlimited number of surveys, of course, but it is a higher number than what most survey sites offer.

3. Each survey is quick

On average, a LifePoints survey will take you around 10 minutes to complete.

With their user-friendly mobile app, you can easily earn a few points while you’re scrolling through your phone on the bus, in a waiting room, or at work (if you’re sneaky about it!) It doesn’t take much of your valuable time to fill out each survey.

4. Unique ways to earn points

The customer diary and product testing features of LifePoints are totally unique to this platform. They aren’t the most effective ways to earn points, but they’re cool bonus features available to LifePoints users, which most other survey sites don’t provide.

Here are some of the features LifePoints’ users think could be improved:

1. Unclear points conversion system

This is by far the biggest downside of LifePoints: you’ll never know exactly how much the points you’re earning are worth.

To figure out how much you’re really making, you’ll have to shop for rewards in the catalog and choose what you want. This doesn’t mean you’re earning less than you would with other survey sites, but it can be very confusing.

2. Points expire

Your points in LifePoints won’t last forever. If you don’t redeem them for rewards within 3 years, they will expire, and you’ll lose that value.

This is only really a downside in the case that someone tries out the app, earns a few points, then decides they don’t like it — you’ll have to keep earning until you have enough to redeem for a reward.

3. Cancelled accounts

This is rare, but some users have reported unexplained account or payment cancellations. It’s probably the result of leftover confusion from the merger between MySurvey and LightSpeed, and it’s something the company is working hard to fix.

If you experience an unexplained account closure, you should get in touch with a LifePoints customer service representative right away.

The bottom line: Is LifePoints worth it?

LifePoints is a safe, legitimate way to earn easy money and rewards online. The website and mobile app are clear and comprehensive, and they offer a variety of ways to earn all over the world.

Considering all the pros and cons, is LifePoints really worth your time and effort in 2023?

If you ask me, I’d say it’s definitely worth a shot. One of the main highlights of this site is that the surveys are so quick and easy — you won’t have to waste your time filling out long, boring questionnaires.

Like any survey site, LifePoints isn’t a way to get rich quick. But it is free to sign up and easy to start earning. You won’t know if it’s right for you until you try it for yourself — so why not give it a shot?

Let's stop worrying about money, together.
